The government of the state of Schleswig-Holstein promised a greeting word of the prime minister, Mrs. Heide Simonis, for the festival "art is an island".
 

The mayor of Heligoland, Mr. Baumann, took the patronage for the art festival "art is an island".

The 12.06.1998 a new exhibition of Peter von Sarközy is opened in the foyer of the software center Marburg. The exhibition will bei seen until the 11.09.1998. The opening will be on friday, the 12. 06. 1998 at 19.30 o`clock.

The popular advertising agency Uwe Schendel from Bremerhaven creates all print media for the event "Art is an Island" without costs for us.
 

The Helgoland Frachtkontor GmbH, Präsident-Herwig-Straße, Halle IV, 27472 Cuxhaven, Ruf: 04721/72040 will transport all art works for the event "Art is an Island" without costs from Cuxhaven to Heligoland and back.
 

Mr. Diedrichsen, til now office leader of the island government Heligoland starts his new job as mayor of Wahlstedt the 1st of septembre 1998. Wahlstedt is a growing industrial city with nearly 12.000 inhabitants near Bad Segeberg. Wahlstedt is not only the owner of a beautiful city theatre, but also about inhabitation, that like art. Mr. Diedrichsen is planning with PARADOX for the year 1999 an event "culture sommer Wahlstedt".
 

The first events for "Art is an Island" are fixed:

The 25th of july
arrives Lars Contzen and starts to paint the base of the lighthouse on the dune. He will be ready until the 1st of august and is present at the opening. He will stay until the 3rd of august.

At the opening, 1st of august
- "the herd of bulls " from Kai Georg Wujanz and Sylvia Reiser will storm out of the water.
- the pier will be decorated with the "word"-banners of Lia Venn and Kai Georg Wujanz.
- the opening celebration of the PARADOX art shop will start in the late afternoon.
- Tadashi Endo will start his 24 hours "sun cycle".

The 2nd of august
- Tadashi Endo show his performance in the Northsea-Hall.

The 3rd of august
starts the performance workshop of Tadashi Endo. Conception and description follows. Duration: 3 til 5 days.

The 10th of august
Kirsten Füllkrug starts her aquarell workshop. Duration: one week. She will also paint outside, in front of the PARADOX artshop. You are welcome.

The 15th of august
Frites Foutue show their program "Tücken des Alltags" in the Northsea-Hall.

The 16th of august
Frites Foutue show their program "Coque-Tails" open air.

The 22th of august
PAYNE´S GREY give a concert. By good weather they will play open air. If the weather is bad, the concert will be in the Northsea-Hall.

The 29th of august
Peter Damm and his ensemble play in the Northsea-Hall.
 

From 29. 4. til 03. 5. 1998 Sylvia Reiser is present at Europ / Art in Geneve.
 

The 02.04.1998 opens a new exhibition in the gallery of Blattl´s Comfort Aparthotel in Berlin. New works of Elsa Zorkow can be seen. The opening is on thursday, 2.4.98, at 18.30 o'clock.

From 05. 3. til 24. 3. 1998 presents Sylvia Reiser new works in the Hotel Aramis, Herrenberg, Siedlerstr. 40-44, D-71126 Gäufelden-Nebringen.
 

PARADOX got a "lobster booth" on Heligoland !
At the inner harbour of the island will be created an art shopping mile with small galleries, art and photo shops in the old fisher lodges, called "lobster booth".
The 25th of november we got the message, that PARADOX got one !
In the first floor will be a room for shopping and exhibitioning, in the roof floor a stockroom.
The conversion shall be finished for “Art is an Island” at the latest. After this happening it is for all members of PARADOX for work, exhibit, sell and fill up with new inspirations.

Works of Ekkehard Stoevesand can be seen until March 1998 in the foyer of Blattl's Comfort Aparthotel, Launhardtstr. 2-4, D-60314 Frankfurt.
 

The artist group PARADOX gets an office with telephone from the island government of Heligoland during the time of the art happening "art is an island".
Here will be the coordination point for visitors, artists and interested people.
